TURF CARE PROGRAM 2008

Our standard program is 3 applications per year consisting of primarily granular fertilizer with liquid weed control spot sprayed as needed.
We also offer a 4th application (winterizer) of premium granular fertilizer.

TIMING:

The 1st application is put down in spring anytime between March 3rd and May 9th. This consists of a slow release granular fertilizer combined with a granular pre emergent weed control, which is primarily for crabgrass control. Liquid fertilizer and broadleaf weed control may be used on a limited basis.

The 2nd application is done anytime between May 10th and July 5th and consists of a slow release granular fertilizer and liquid broadleaf weed control which is spot sprayed as needed to help control weeds such as dandelions, clover and ground ivy.

The 3rd application is between August 4th and September 29th and consists of a slow release granular fertilizer and liquid broadleaf weed control spot sprayed as needed.

The 4th enhanced fertilization (winterizer) is put down between September 30th and November 21st and is a premium granular fertilizer designed to promote root growth and allow for quicker, healthier spring green up.

METHODS:

Granular products are typically applied with a motorized stand on spreader calibrated to apply the proper amount of material uniformly over the turf. Liquid weed control will also be sprayed with this unit on a spot spray basis as needed.

In some cases a manual push spreader will be used for granular products and a hand sprayer or back pack sprayer may be used for liquid weed control.

On a limited basis liquid fertilizer and weed controls may be applied by hand through a mechanical spray unit.

All materials are applied according to the manufacturers label by a state licensed technician regulated by the Illinois Department of Agriculture. We use only general use pesticides as dictated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
